PHOENIX (AP) -The Los Angeles Dodgers won their arbitration case against reliever Joe Beimel on Saturday, setting his salary at $912,500 this year.

Beimel asked for a raise from $425,000 to $1.25 million at Friday's hearing. The Dodgers countered at $912,500. One of the two figures must be chosen, and the three arbitrators decided on the club's offer.

A left-hander who turns 30 in April, Beimel was 2-1 with a 2.96 ERA and two saves in 62 appearances last season.

Owners beat players in the first two arbitration cases of the year. Earlier in the day, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays won the first decision - against backup catcher Josh Paul.

Owners won four of six cases last year and lead players 271-200 since arbitration began in 1974.
