Lewis returns to lineup for SuperSonics

SEATTLE (AP) -SuperSonics forward Rashard Lewis returned to the starting lineup Saturday night against Sacramento after missing the last 22 games.

Lewis injured a tendon in his right hand in the first minute of Seattle's Dec. 20 game against Dallas. Lewis returned to practice in late January and was cleared to play earlier than expected.

Lewis will wear a padded black, fingerless glove for a while to protect against the expected slaps his shooting hand will take. His first two matchups will come against Sacramento's Ron Artest, one of the most physical defenders in the league. The Sonics play at Sacramento on Sunday night.

Seattle was 8-14 without Lewis, and just 3-10 against the top 11 teams in the Western Conference. The Sonics haven't had Lewis and leading scorer Ray Allen in the lineup together since Dec. 2.

Reportedly, he is in great shape and well ahead of schedule to return to form. Also, he could have some added motivation to put up big numbers this season with the Eagles using their first pick in the draft on McNabb’s future successor Kevin Kolb.
