WASHINGTON (AP) -Stephen Strasburg got off to another strong start for the Washington Nationals on Thursday, striking out seven with no walks through his first five innings.

The right-handed rookie opened with a 97 mph fastball in 93-degree heat against Kansas City. His fastball remained in the high 90s, and he mixed in offspeed pitches to strike out the side in the fourth inning.

Strasburg also allowed eight hits, including three in a row that produced the first run of the game in the fifth.

Strasburg was making his fourth major league start. He entered the game 2-0 with 32 strikeouts.
