gers knows from experience that it isn't easy to live life as an understudy in the NFL.

Now that Rodgers finally has broken free from Brett Favre's shadow to become an elite starting quarterback, he sees a little bit of his former self in Green Bay Packers backup Matt Flynn: a guy willing to do what it takes to prepare as if he's the starter every week, knowing that he might never play.

``I was telling a friend this summer, I couldn't think of a better backup, because it's tough to be a bac

Packers keep blitzes under wraps for preseason Sat Aug 21 02:15:00 2010 EST

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -As far as the Green Bay Packers are concerned, bland is the new blitz - at least when it comes to the preseason.

Entering their second year in defensive coordinator Dom Capers' 3-4 scheme, the Packers are facing a far more gentle learning curve to get ready for the regular season.

So unlike last year, when the defense was new and Capers felt players had to practice everything under game conditions, he's now keeping his most exotic blitzes under wraps and off of game

GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -The Green Bay Packers' preseason-opening loss to the Cleveland Browns might have given their fans cause for concern in several areas, but the most important player seemed to be in midseason form: quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
